linda - eyes mending, kidneys not so much

Linda has enjoyed spending her time in doctors' waiting rooms lately (not). Currently, there are two loci of interest: eyes and kidney.

As regular readers will recall, she got herself a new eye from Dr. Burke December 11th. She can now see colors ("Oh my gosh, will you look at that blue glove!!") and is not blinded by lights at night. Everything is so much brighter than she expected, even after his promises. However, she still doesn't really have improved distance vision in the new eye, and this has made her afraid that the whole thing was a flop. Yesterday, she had her second follow-up appointment with Burke. Here is her report:

basically he said when everything is done, i will see just fine.  crystallens looks good, eye looks good, cornea is clear, and no more drops for glaucoma, so at least that part was successful... it all is rather complicated and filled with numbers...i was a 3, now a 2 and he was aiming for a 1.  then fussing with the chart like he was doing an algerbra problem, then some mumbling to nursie.."who wrote this?"  which made me think they had put in the wrong strength lens.  when both eyes are working together it will be better and also i have some kind of plaque in the bed of the eye where the lens sits, so he can laser that off and it would help vision  etc. etc. etc.  not to worry

So then off she goes to her regular doc to see about this fever she's had since Saturday. The news there is not what we wanted.  She says, "There is a kidney stone 5 ml. and it is causing somewhat of a blockage....I'm on Bactrim again." She is off to see Marins this morning to see what can be done. We are hoping and praying that he will be able to zap this kidney stone without a hospital stay, but who knows.

You will likely be wondering WTF she can do to stop getting all these kidney stones. She says: "I know wtf i can do to avoid further kidney stones...have the parathyroid operation that bukberg wanted me to have. that's on my to do list." She is not in the best mood, and who can blame her? Updates to come.
